At a glance
Horsham is the commercial heart of the Wimmera. Around 16,000 residents, sitting on the Wimmera River, three hours west of Melbourne and three hours east of Adelaide.
Shops & services
Two major supermarkets, a covered shopping centre, weekly farmers' market, banks, post office and pharmacies along Firebrace Street. Bunnings and the major auto and rural suppliers are on the Western Highway approach.
Schools
Public and Catholic primary schools throughout the suburbs, Horsham College for years 7–12, and Federation University's Horsham campus.
Health
Wimmera Base Hospital provides emergency, surgical and specialist services. GP clinics, dentists and allied health are well represented in the town centre.
Recreation
Wimmera River walks and rowing, Mount Arapiles (45 min) for climbing, Grampians National Park (50 min) for bushwalking, plus footy, netball, golf and lawn bowls.
